Today Im just searching around for some inspiration. I want to do some summer conversationals for the womenswear usa market. A few seasons ago this was a good seller. A friend who used to do wardrobe at the BBC gave me these fab sunglasses to sell on ebay ... so they became my inspiration. (copyright to the buyer of this design)

brighton childrens wear

There are some lovely kidswear shops in Brighton. One of my favs is Toby tiger The owner went to uni of Brighton like me. The textile department used to be up at Finsbury Road in those days!!(only 10 years ago!), Anyway, she has done really well. I found some lovely bold simple prints as shown in the photo, and some very cute toys.

Today Ive been working on some girlswear bright florals for spirng/summer, which I will send to my newyork agent. Ive also just finished making some cards for a couple of friends birthdays. Over the weekend I had a good look around Brightons kidswear boutiques, I will post some of my finds tommorrow.

Today I thought Id share some of my textile designs. These 3 are part of a baby girl group that were sold through an agent. Once a design sells I no longer hold the copyright, so the buyer of these designs now hold copyright. This is the way it is for a textile designer working freelance!!

lily cards

These are two recent card designs; an orange lily and a lily of the valley. I will add to these and expand this range. I like the idea of a simple pattern within a solid shape.

kitty stitch the first blog

Hello and welcome to my first blog entry. I am a textile designer specializing in childrens wear and womens wear , I send most of my work to an agent in newyork. I also dabble in making cards and painting. I want to use this blog space to share my design inspiration and ideas.
Im not sure yet how I will post photos of my designs, as I have to work out copyright issues, but perhaps I will start with some of my card designs.
